Zain Picks Motorola for LTE Build Out

Zain Saudi Arabia has chosen Motorola to launch Saudi Arabia’s first LTE network. The network will start in the second quarter of 2010, covering Riyadh. Motorola will provide end-to-end LTE solutions includig radio access network, evolved packet core infrastructure, and 4G devices. The network will operate in the 2.6 GHz spectrum space, over Zain’s 3G structure.

“We want to provide Zain subscribers in the Kingdom with the fastest high quality network that can accommodate real-time multimedia applications such as video conferencing, high definition (HD) content streaming, video blogging, or the ability to quickly upload video onto social networking sites,” Ismail Fikree, Zain Saudi Arabia COO, said, “With LTE, Zain customers will be able to experience unparalleled mobile broadband experiences.”
