Tecore Welcomes Stimulus Announcement

Tecore Networks applauds the NTIA-RUS joint announcement of a second round of federal stimulus funding. The plan is to expand broadband access throughout the U.S. Tecore’s infrastructure products and has been given USDA Rural Development Acceptance and “Buy American” status. Deployment will be in rural, new license and remote networks and will evolve as new 3G and 4G wireless technologies are being released.

“Mobile broadband technologies have been more widely adopted, and have driven more economic growth and innovation than any other technology on the market,” said Bruce Portell, Chief Operating Officer, Tecore Networks. “Tecore’s multi-technology platform brings the same capabilities offered by national networks to rural and remote operators. Our solutions address the needs articulated by NTIA and RUS while fitting within the ‘cost of ownership’ limitations posed by harder-to-serve communities.”

The ARRA calls for $7.2 billion in funding for broadband initiatives in underserved areas of the U.S., overseen by the NTIA and RUS. The NTIA will accept middle-mile applications while RUS will accept last-mile proposals. The agencies stress that companies should team with other government agencies, non-profits and other companies in order to get a piece of the finance.

Tecore offers the iCore, an all-IP core network desigend to bring Tier 1 mobile networks to small operators. It supports GSM and CDMA technology through 2G and 3G with an software plug-in to 4G LTE. It offers reliability of a widely deployed platform and scalability important to remote areas where wireless broadband can penetrate.
