Sequans Communications and Alcatel-Lucent are collaborating on LTE solutions for networks in Asia and Europe for service providers that will offer services at 2.6GHz. The first result of this partnership will be a USB dongle to be used in operator trials in 1020.
“Through this partnership, we are exhibiting our commitment to creating a vibrant LTE ecosystem and to supporting operator goals of demonstrating the value of TD-LTE in delivering advanced services to end users,” said Georges Karam, Sequans CEO. “Alcatel-Lucent is an LTE technology leader, already actively involved in some of the most significant LTE deployment projects announced to date and we are pleased to work with them.”
China Mobile chose Alcatel-Lucent to deploy China Mobile’s demonstration network at the World Expo 2010 in Shanghai. It uses Sequans TD-LTE chips and USB dongles on the 2.3GHz frequency.
This is another example of LTE roll out taking some time, but Europe and Asia are very good barometers in terms of subscriber numbers and usage of burgeoning technologies.
