A GPS tracking device or simply a GPS tracker, is generally a small-sized (handheld) data logger, which can be used to determine the device’s exact position within a few feet anywhere in the world. GPS tracking systems are linked to satellites orbiting the Earth that act as signal receivers and are able to convey the device’s position to a home station. GPS tracking devices can be used for multiple purposes such as fleet or vehicle tracking, cargo and container tracking, asset tracking, personal tracking for children and elderly, law enforcement tracking and more. Current GPS trackers available on the market work in tandem with mapping software that enables the user to monitor the position of the tracked object either in real-time or as a historical trackback.
