E-UTRAN: a wireless data extension of UMTS technology. It is the abbreviation for Evolved UMTS Terrestrial Radio Access Network, also referred to as the 3GPP work item on the Long Term Evolution (LTE). The Air-Interface Evolution will develop a framework for a high-data-rate, low-latency and packet-optimized OFDMA radio-access technology. Trials started in 2008, products are expected to be commercially available in 2009 and commercial deployments will begin in 2010.
